SANDY
Creative talent and artistic ability were
some of Sandy Ritter, Whitaker, Clark's trademarks during her journey through life, prior
to a stroke in 1999. The stroke took her writing and painting ability, along
with the use of her right arm and most of the right leg. Her speech ability was
greatly effected also. She had always exhibited great display organization
skills and while attending Niles High School in Niles, Michigan, she won a city
wide contest for a store window display. Sandy made artistic baskets,
dolls, gourd dolls, tin figures and created beautiful paintings and art work.
She enjoyed painting pumpkins for kids during the autumn season, and harvest
time, but they were always happy, painted pumpkins, never scary ones. Some of
that talent still lives in the beautiful objects that she created and enjoys
today. Sandy enjoyed walking along the Ocean beaches of North Carolina looking
for shells and other treasure, or looking for rocks along the shores of Lake
Michigan. She also enjoyed flying across the sands and dunes on a dune buggy at
Silver Lake, in Michigan. Sandy enjoyed doing things with her good friend Mary Lou
here in Michigan and they did a lot of cooking, canning and sewing, together.
Sandy enjoyed the fellowship, and had a lot of fun with the Mall Walkers at
Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where she usually had a ready comment for anything
that was said. If the conversation was slow and not much was being said, Sandy
had a knack of stirring it up a little bit. She had a lot of fun working
and going places with her friend Vivian. They had a lot of good times. Sandy
also enjoyed being friends with our neighbor Doris in North Carolina. For the
past few years, Sandy has enjoyed cruising around our neighborhood on her power
chair, admiring the neighbor's yards and flowers, and talking with the
neighbors, whom I thank for being so kind to her. Click on the Sandy's Creations

.Sandy Update
Many times, after the stroke in 1999, when things got rough,
Sandy said to me, "I just want to go home". Sandy had a seizure Thursday morning
February 7, 2008 and was admitted to Lakeland Hospital. She never fully
recovered from the seizure effects. She passed away about 3:00 PM Friday,
February 8, 2008, in Lakeland Hospital, Niles, Michigan. Sandy has gone home.
