GROVER CLEVELAND CLARK (BERIAH M., CHARLES W., JOHN K.) was born September 02, 1889 in Earlington, Hopkins Co., KY, and died July 12, 1963 in Niles, Berrien Co., MI. He married STELLA MAE BUTLER December 09, 1913 in Home of the bride, Essex, Stoddard Co., MO, daughter of PHILLIP W. BUTLER and ELVIRA ELLEN BRENDEL. Stella was born December 24, 1895 in Greenbrier, Bollinger Co., MO, and died December 17, 1991 in Niles, Berrien Co., MI.

Notes for GROVER CLEVELAND CLARK:
When my Father, Grover Cleveland Clark who went by the name "Cleve",  was 8 to 12 years old he made Hot Tamales at home and took them down to the coal mines in the Earlington, KY area and sold them to the workers. I recall in later years that he could still make good tamales. They were wrapped in corn husks and tasted good. Cleve moved from Kentucky to Stoddard County, Missouri in the early 1900's.  Cleve worked in the lead mines near Elvins, Missouri during most of the 1920's. Cleve and Stella moved their family to Clio, Michigan in the late 1920's and Dad worked for the Chevrolet Company until the depression changed so many life styles and dreams in 1929. Dad and Mom moved back to Missouri, near Bernie, after Dad lost his job at Chevrolet. Cleve Clark had some tough times and probably learned some hard lessons during his life but I remember him advising me always to do the right thing. I can still remember his words, "Just do what's right, Son." I'm sure that advice stemmed from lessons that he had learned.
